Rolex 16610 LV “Kermit” Flat 4 Box and Paper Set
The Inside Story
The Rolex Submariner made its debut in 1953, and to mark its 50th anniversary, Rolex introduced the 16610LV in 2003. This special edition is distinguished by its iconic green bezel—referred to as "LV" (short for Lunette Verte)—and features a high-gloss dial with larger hour markers and slightly broader hands, a combination known as the "Maxi dial."
Although Rolex officially introduced the term "Maxi" with this release, watch enthusiasts had already been using it for years to describe the wider hour markers found on Submariner models from the 1970s with matte dials.
This example is a very early specimen—without the rehaut-engraved serial—and features a desirable first-execution “flat four” bezel insert, now slightly faded to a softer green. The case remains impressively thick, and the dial is also an early version, identifiable by the oval “O” in "ROLEX" and the wider “SWISS MADE” text floating above the minute markers from 28 to 32.
The watch is paired with its correct Oyster reference 93250 bracelet, featuring solid end links and a clasp stamped “AD4.” This fine collectible Submariner comes as a full set: inner and outer boxes, the Rolex anchor, three booklets, card holder, a 2003/2004 calendar, and three hang tags—including one with the matching serial number.
The original guarantee paper confirms the sale in 2003 and explicitly references the "LV" variation of the 16610—a rare and desirable detail for collectors. This fine Sub' is fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The Kermit that started it all—flat four bezel, no rehaut, maxi dial magic, and a full collector’s kit. This isn’t just a Submariner, it’s a celebration of 50 years of dive watch royalty. Early, rare, and packed with character, this green legend won’t stick around for long.
