The Inside Story

The A-Series Solid-Endlink Zenith Daytona

The 16520 was Rolex’s first automatic chronograph, unveiled at Baselworld in 1988. Powered by a modified Zenith movement (hence the nickname) the watches became an instant hit, due to its larger size and restyled aesthetics. Today we are pleased to offer this white dialed version dating to 1999, one of the last watches from the Zenith-era watches before the in-house movement Daytona was launched at Baselworld in 2000. The white dial is in perfect condition and the case looks superstrong – this really is a very nice watch. The dial has luminova indexes and hands and the ‘6’ in the hours register the correct way up – traditionally this was known as a Mk5 dial. The original solid link Oyster bracelet, ref 78390, is in good condition with a clasp stamped ‘AB5’ and solid endlinks. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
