How to change my watch strap?

Changing your watch strap is easier than you think. Make sure you have a good quality watch tool, and we'll show you in the video below how to easily switch your 1) steel and/or 2) leather strap.

Installation & Care

Care instruction

Our leather straps are made of all-natural vegetable tanned leather. There is no chemical coating or waxing on top, which is why they are so very soft and comfortable. This natural quality also causes aging of the leather by sunlight and everyday wear. Every strap gets its own individual patina, which is something we love. Please don’t treat the leather with oil or wax as it ruins the whole nature of the strap. This also comes with a warning: avoid direct contact with water, as it may cause stains. So don’t wear your strap in the shower or when swimming and be cautious of heavy rain or perspiration. We recommend not wearing the strap in the gym.

Installation advice

We advice using a high quality spring bar for installation of our straps. Especially with newer watches, the gap between the case or bezel and the spring bar may be more narrow than on older pieces. To avoid scratches on the leather, we advise you to treat the strap carefully and without force when installing it on your watch. If it does not seem to fit at all, you might need curved spring bars or a different watch strap altogether. If you're unsure about this, feel free to consult with us before placing your order.

Seems a bit loose? Here’s why

As vegetable tanned leather tends to shrink a bit when worn, all our leather watch straps are intentionally designed with a tiny bit more width to prevent them from feeling or looking too small after some wearing. When first installed with your watch, the strap might appear a bit snug – but after a while, it will stretch and fit perfectly between the lugs. For Bulang and Sons, this is a mark of quality and proof of our traditional and natural approach.

Shipping & Returns

Handmade essentials

Our watch essentials are handmade in Italy. Each item is an individual piece with its own structure and colour which may differ slightly from the one on display in our online shop.

Care instruction

Our watch essentials are made of the finest natural materials. If they are made of leather you can be sure there is no chemical coating or waxing on top, which is why they are so very soft and full of character. This natural quality also causes aging of the material as time passes. Every item gets its own individual patina, which is something we love. Please don’t treat the leather with oil or wax as it ruins the whole nature of the product.

This also comes with a warning: avoid direct contact with water, as it may cause stains. We recommend not watering plants next to these watch essentials.

Built to last a lifetime.

The initial sensory experience at first touch can only be summed up in word. Plain. Now, hear me out though, that is in fact unusually refreshing because at further inspection and after a weeks wear or so all the little nuances begins showing themselves and you start realising that whilst yes, it is very plain - it is the most comforting and reassuring type of plain there is… this is like grandpa’s old wood cutting axe, with a handle made from the kind of oaks that don’t grow no more and a head summoned from the kind of steel that only a lifetime of aging and use will bring. Something that will actually only get better with use and clearly won’t degrade because the raw materials used and the old world craftsmanship applied brings forth something that carries the term “plain” with a certain heft and weight that starts to become very evident even after just initial use. The term “they don’t make ’em like this anymore” has never felt as apt. But the deeper fact is watch straps were never made like this to begin with so hence the reference to grandpa’s old axe. So kudos to B&S for bringing this kind of robust but loving perfection into the world… If you wonder how it wears rather than how it feels, I will say that it is robust but never brutish, supple but not without presence and it’s got heft not thru mass but thru pure quality of construction. It should be matched to a tool watch, never a dress watch.

Good strap

Exactly as shown on the site. I fitted it to a 42mm navitimer and it looks great. Well made and will wear in nicely. (Shame they didn’t supply any lug pins with the strap).

Nice vintage look

Unusual vintage strap with vintage stitching. Real leather - unlike coated versions I've had over the years - that fall apart in months.
