The B&S Tudor Ducati Moto GP trip
Following a hectic last two week, I am happy to share with you my recent 4-day field trip to Italy as one of the special guests of Tudor and Ducati at the Moto GP in Mugello, Tuscany. And what an amazing trip it was – not only for the excitement of the races, the speed and the great hospitality, but to see the passion behind the teams of both brands…
It all started with the beauty of Bologna. This amazing Tuscan city with all its character, great places to enjoy the sights and the amazing Italian food and lifestyle.
I was lucky to enjoy the company of some great people from Ducati and Tudor on the first night and had great dinner at one of the nicest squares in Bologna.
The ‘Schnitzel’ was unforgettable my friends and can’t wait to meet again soon!
We had such great talks about the passion of the two companies and what i loved so much was to see the unity between these two brands and the natural collaboration they share.
Ducati as passion driven company, famous for their motorbikes and racing history. Tudor as passion driven watch company with their own approach and great succes the last years in re-building the brand. You just feel they both act from their heart.
Both claiming their position in the ‘big’-brand market and both having a long lasting heritage.
Together they have collaborated on the Ducati Scrambler and the Tudor Fastrider watches. They share the lifestyle and approach the same people, searching for the same lifestyle. A contemporary adventure, where the bike and the watch is not the main goals and excitement on its own. But where it is the tool to set the feel, giving you a great experience in bringing you to the place where you share and enjoy with others.
The next day early the small group of watch/lifestyle/fashion bloggers, from all over Europe, joined to meet up with the Tudor team and head to the Ducati factory. We had an amazing afternoon, with a great tour of the Ducati museum.
More great fun was had at the lunch, where the whole group was guided by a Italian chef to make their own Italian style lunch. With great wine and talks this was truly a highlight.
After the factory visit it was time to move to Mugello. What a beautiful place amongst the Tuscan landscape. And what a great place we stayed at; there was no chance to NOT RELAX at that place and enjoy the warm spring sun… and a drink. Again amazing food and hospitality was enjoyed until late into the night!
It was so much fun to also talk to all the fellow-bloggers from different passions. The cross-over was really exciting.
The best dressed guy in the watch market …
The crazy stuff people do with their watches after midnight 😉
The next morning it was off to Mugello for the day of practice and qualifying for the race. Full of adrenaline and excitement. It was my first time at the Moto GP and i was almost shocked by the speed and power of the bikes blasting past the Ducati VIP Lounge at 351 Km/H .. The sound, the feel and knowledge they are racing at this speed over a little hill top just before a blind corner, was just mind-blowing.
What a day. And who came out the winner… Ducati. Yeaaah! Great job and great to be part of that excitement that day.
As it goes with watch guys and bloggers… the brakes between the racing was filled with watch shooting .. and visiting the Ducati Paddock. It was amazing to see the mechanics at work on these bikes – crazy focused as a team!
I love the BLUE PELAGOS and can’t wait to take it to Ibiza and enjoy the summer with it.
But also great to see people as Valentino Rossi at the top of their game and the crowd going crazy at every pass-by he did.
Biggest respect for the CEO of Tudor… racing on the back of one of the Ducati’s at full speed over the track. What a mindblowing experience it must have been.
What a day.
When we returned to the Villa we where treated to another surprise. A full team of Ducati drivers were ready to give us the experience of driving the Ducati Scrambler in the amazing surrounds of Tuscany.
Another amazing dinner was then enjoyed, again with great talks. And the leaders of the Ducati racing team joined us for a update on their day and the plans for the next day. It was so great to get that inside track and the feel to be part of the team.
Unfortunately i had to leave the next day before the races, so i could not feel the full excitement and adrenaline of the start of the Moto GP. But for sure Ducati did an amazing job at their home race.
As much as the both companies did a great job on their product lines of the Ducati Scrambler and the Tudor watches.
I am not a bike guy… but I fell in love with the Scrambler, with its great lifestyle feel and looks; it totally hit the spot for me. And just like Tudor, not just copies of old designs or re-issue of the old bike / watch, but a search to create a contemporary product breathing the heritage into a new group of modern customers.
I think its not a secret i am a big fan of Tudor watches, but now i am also a big fan of Ducati too.
Can’t wait to meet you guys again. Tudor Ducati…what a team!
