The Tag Heuer Autavia 2017

The Tag Heuer Autavia 2017 was launched to celebrate 55 years of the Autavia, which was first launched in 1962. The name is an amalgam of Automobile and Aviation and was used on plane cockpits and car dashboard clocks from as early as 1933. The 2017 Tag re-edition (note the vintage-esque dials sans TAG) was the the result of a competition where Jean-Claude Biver (Tag-Heuer CEO) selected 16 Autavias fom Heuer’s archive and allowed collectors to vote for their favourite to be re-imagined for the 2017 anniversary launch. The winner was the Autavia reference 2446 Mk3 which was the inspiration for the watch featured here.
